William C. Cockerham is Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Research Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park. A past president of the International Sociological Association's Research Committee on Health Sociology, he has authored and edited 21 books, including Medical Sociology and the first edition of The Wiley Blackwell Encyclopedia of Health, Illness, and Society.
Jonathan Gabe is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Royal Holloway, University of London. A specialist in chronic illness, pharmaceuticals, and health policy, he has authored and edited 14 books, including Key Concepts in Medical Sociology. Dr. Gabe is a former editor of Sociology of Health & Illness and a Fellow of the UK Academy of Social Sciences.
Stella R. Quah is an Adjunct Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, specializing in medical sociology, public health, and public policy. She has published more than 60 journal articles and 27 books, including Health and Culture. Her research focuses on health behaviors, governance of epidemics, and family caregiving in physical and mental health.
J. Michael Ryan is a Professor- Researcher at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú with international teaching experience spanning five continents. He has authored and edited numerous works, including The McDonaldization of Society (with George Ritzer) and COVID-19: Social Inequalities and Human Possibilities (with Serena Nanda). Dr. Ryan also serves as Series Editor for Wiley's Core Concepts in the Social Sciences series.
