Tremendous advances in intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) havecoincided with the evolution of interventionalelectrophysiology.
This book is designed to provide both the electrophysiologistand echocardiographer with an in-depth view of the role and valueof ICE during electrophysiologic procedures. A guide to techniquesused for optimal ICE imaging in cardiac electrophysiology isprovided. In addition, new and less-recognized uses of ICE inelectrophysiological procedures are described and their clinicalapplications are presented.
Illustrated with over 500 images, many of which are in color, the book can also be used as a practical atlas. Readers need not beexperts in the field of echocardiography to benefit from thispractical approach to intracardiac imaging inelectrophysiology.

Index.

Dr. Jian-Fang Ren is a Senior Research Investigator in theexperimental and clinical electrophysiology laboratories at theUniversity of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has been apioneer in using intracardiac ultrasound imaging forelectrophysiologic applications. He has authored or co-authoredover one hundred original manuscripts including seminalpublications related to the use of intracardiac ultrasound imagingtechnology and catheter ablation of inappropriate sinus tachycardiaand atrial fibrillation. He has mentored over fifty trainees on theuse of intracardiac echo and has lectured internationally on thesubject matter.
Dr. Francis Marchlinski is a Professor of Medicine andDirector of Electrophysiology for the University of PennsylvaniaHealth System. He has been actively involved in cardiacElectrophysiology investigation and training for over twenty-fiveyears. He has authored numerous articles on the utility of avariety of imaging techniques for facilitating electrophysiologicmapping and ablation.
Dr. David Callans is a Professor of Medicine and Directorof the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at the Hospital ofUniversity of Pennsylvania. He has been a pioneer in the use ofintracardiac echocardiography in cardiac electrophysiology. He hasauthored a number of original publications and reviews, lecturedand has organized training sessions for electrophysiologists on theuse of intracardiac echo.
Dr. David Schwartzman is a Associate Professor ofMedicine and Director of the Atrial Fibrillation Center at theUniversity of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has been activelyinvolved in the development of intracardiac echo imaging in cardiacelectrophysiology and has continued to published originalmanuscripts and well-respected, state-of-the-art reviews on thesubject.
