Oriens Christianus
This journal, published since 1901, is dedicated to the Christian Orient in the narrow sense, i.e. excluding Greek and Slavic Christianity. Geographically, its area extends from Ethiopia to Georgia and from the Middle East to India and China.
According to the program of its founder, Anton Baumstark, not only contributions on religious topics but also on the entire mental and material culture of Oriental Christians are published. Thus, Oriens Christianus covers a section of Oriental Studies but also of studies on the Eastern church. Apart from articles and reviews, sources in the various languages and scripts of the Christian Orient are published. In the German language area, it is the only journal of its kind, but the volumes are published in cooperation with international scholars.
