Maria Adele Giamberardino, MD, is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the “Pathophysiology of Pain Laboratory” and of the “Headache and Fibromyalgia Center” at the Department of Medicine and Science of Aging of the “G. D’Annunzio” University of Chieti – Italy. She performs clinical work and clinical and experimental research in pain. Her main areas of interest include pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of visceral pain and referred hyperalgesia, headache,  musculoskeletal pain and fibromyalgia. She is author of over 200 publications in international journals and books and has been awarded national and international research prizes for her research. She has been a member of numerous Committees of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and Editor-in-Chief of IASP Press (2010-2015). She is currently Secretary of the Italian Society for the Study of Headache (2014-2016). 

Paolo Martelletti is Associate Professor ofInternal Medicine at the University 'La Sapienza' of Rome  since 2005 and Director of the Regional Reference Center for Cephalaeas at the Sant'Andrea Hospital in Rome, Italy, since 2003. After a long research activity started in 1980 in the fields of internal medicine, cephalalgias, and pain management, he is now developing new research avenues for the study of factors for chronicity, comorbidities, and aspects of health economics in primary headaches; elaboration of rehabilitation protocols in patients with secondary headache as a consequence of medication abuse; study of innovative therapies for the acute treatment and prophylaxis of primary headaches. He is series editor of the Springer Headache series and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Headache and Pain.
