In the coronavirus pandemic, the challenges facing the role of pastors and the changes it faces, especially with regard to digital forms of communication, have become as clear as if looking at them through a magnifying glass. Pastoral sociology has set itself the task of taking a new look at the contexts, forms and questions of pastoral practice and religious communication. This anthology contains the written contributions from the annual conference of the Social Science Institute of the EKD as well as further contributions from that institute in the field of pastoral sociology and the sociology of religion.
