This collection of essays brings together a number of studies of Galilee in Hellenistic and Roman times. Diese Aufsatzsammlung enthält einige Studien über Galiläa in der hellenistischen und römischen Zeit. Sean Freyne sichtet die wichtigen archäologischen Funde in Galiläa und entwickelt einen kritischen Dialog zwischen dem archäologischen und literarischen Beweismaterial. Das dabei entstehende Profil der Gesellschaft und der Glaubenswelt von Galiläa hat sich bei den Diskussionen über den historischen Jesus als sehr einflußreich erwiesen, insbesondere in Bezug auf die Alltagswelt des frühen Christentums.
