We chose Intersectionality and Intersectional Knowledges in order to expand intersectionality as a transformative framework that transcends traditional social categorizations, emphasizing the interconnectedness of identities like class, race, and gender. This book offers profound insights into the complexities of human experiences, social structures, and power dynamics, and invites to critically engage with and reshape power structures in the production of knowledge.

2. What new perspectives does your book offer?

The contributors to this volume offer insights into the complexities of human experiences, social structures, and power dynamics in relation to the production of knowledge. Its unique contribution lies in challenging Eurocentric knowledge production by integrating perspectives from the Global South and examining minority experiences in the Global North. It innovates by proposing new intersectional methodologies that bridge disciplines.

3. What makes your topic relevant for current research debates?

Intersectional perspectives are relevant in most current research debates. Further the link between knowledge and power is most relevant in current research debates. Both are combined in the book and diversely linked, making it a relevant topic as such and enriching linked debates with differentiated and diverse perspective on intersectionality, power and knowledge.

The book offers fresh insights into themes and methodologies regarding intersectionality in Europe -and beyond- from different academic perspectives.

Mario Faust-Scalisi ist Postdoc und Koordinator des Promotionskollegs für Intersektionalitsstudien an der Universität Bayreuth. Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind Intersektionalität, Comicstudien, transnationale Zivilgesellschaft und Aktivismus mit Schwerpunkt auf den beiden Amerikas.

Susan Arndt ist Professorin für britische und afrikanische Literaturen an der Universität Bayreuth und Sprecherin des Promotionskollegs für Intersektionalitätsstudien. Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind intersektioneller Rassismus und britische sowie englischsprachige afrikanische Literatur.
